THE ONE KINGS LANE CONNECTICUT HOUSE

Recently i've noticed some amazingly inspiring photos on the One Kings Lane Instagram account that left me wondering where they were from! Turns out, One Kings Lane recently revealed their first ever 'living' showroom in the Connecticut home of OKL's own president, Debbie Propst. The first floor of her home that she shares with her family showcases not only her amazing talent (along with the team at OKL), but also many pieces that are available for purchase through OKL.

The farmhouse-style home was modernized to showcase how people can actually live with these furnishings in the home and with the hope of inspiring customers to create their own tailored design with the OKL studio. The style of the home is a mix of what OKL has to offer. Some pieces are vintage, some picked by the OKL buyers, while others made specifically by OKL themselves. I think the mix is fantastic, the house looks so inviting and cozy!

Unique Nightstand Ideas

I am currently working on two bedroom projects and am about to take on three more next month, so I have been looking at nightstands for weeks! While there are tons of amazing options out there, these tend to come with a hefty price tag and quite often, more affordable options are cheaply made and this is evident by just looking at them!

I recently worked with a fantastic local atelier to re-finish a client's existing antique nightstands and they turned out amazing. Really - a whole new life was given to the pieces. This got me thinking, it isn't always necessary to spend $1000-$2000 on a new nightstand (but if you want to and you can - go for it!) and you don't have to settle on crappy mass produced options. Look at having an antique piece re-finished for an updated, more contemporary look. See what you have in your own home or what you can find at local antique shops, flea markets, thrift stores, or estate sales.

Laundry Room Inspiration

Laundry rooms are often overlooked by so many home owners, which is understandable seeing as this room isn't necessarily used daily (it certainly isn't a kitchen or bathroom). Realistically, budgets don't stretch into EVERY room of a home - and that is okay! The washer and dryer are probably the most important items in this room, so get the best you can afford. There are several stylish options available these days, take your time to research and choose an option that has the features you need but also looks great :).

Here are four laundry rooms, all with different design elements that I hope serve as some inspiration for your home. Whether you are designing a new laundry room, or looking to make a few small changes to your existing space, keep this post in mind!

The Amazing Work of Nancy Meyers

Happy Friday! Today's post is simple, but so great! It explores the amazing work of  Nancy Meyers - the director/producer/writer behind some of my favourite movies like The Holiday, It's Complicated, and The Intern. She even worked on Father of the Bride in the early 90s, which is like my all time FAVOURITE movie, so you already know she is amazing.
