What's in my Makeup Bag

1. Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil

Cleansing oils have become pretty popular in the last few years. Most people think it's a crazy concept - slathering oil all over your dry face - but I swear this product is great. This Burt's Bees version even removes makeup and is gentle enough to remove eye makeup. It leaves your face moisturized but not greasy and really does leave your face feeling clean. Some oils I have seen are expensive but this one retails for around $15 and will last for months!

2. Tata Harper Repairative Moisturizer

I discovered Tata Harper about a year ago and have been obsessed with her products ever since! Everything is made on their farm in Vermont with many ingredients grown right on the farm. The line is sold in stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Sephora and is also available at smaller retailers across Canada. The Repairative Moisturizer is their 'heavier moisturizer' but still has a light feel and is packed with natural ingredients and hyaluronic acid. I am not lying when I say that a little goes a long way.....and it should because Tata Harper products are not cheap! This moisturizer is about $140 CAD and I am NOT looking forward to when mine runs out! I wish I could buy the entire line, but that ain't happening anytime soon, so in the meantime I spend my money where it counts. Keep that in mind if you can only splurge on one product: spend your money on something that actually stays on your entire face all day. Think moisturizer or face serum.

3. PiperWai Natural Deodorant

I don't even know what to say about this product other than THIS IS THE BEST ALL NATURAL DEODORANT EVER! I swear - this ACTUALLY works. I have only tried a couple of other brands in the past, but they did not hold up and I have never heard good reviews about any other brand either. PiperWai was created by two girls who showcased the product on Shark Tank and since then, it has been selling like crazy! I don't even think I have seen a bad review anywhere about this natural deodorant. The only two downsides to the product - it comes in a jar as a paste (they are releasing a stick version at the end of the year) and the product is only available from a handful of online retailers in Canada. The price is about $15 and my current jar has lasted about three and a half months (summer months!).

4. Pai Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil

So a few years ago I discovered rosehip oil and how great it is for your skin. I used a different brand before I found the Pai Skincare version but I am convinced that I will have a bottle of this Pai rosehip oil in my makeup bag for the rest of my life. The UK based all natural line is comparable to Tata Harper but is made for sensitive skin and is slightly cheaper. It helps with most aging problems including reducing sun damage and dark spots. I put this on at night or mix in a few drops with my moisturizer. If I could recommended one product it would probably be Pai's rosehip oil.

5. Physician's Formula Organic Wear Mascara

This mascara is great, long-lasting, and priced at about $10 if you can find Physician's Formula on sale at the drugstore. This is honestly better than most mascaras I have tried in the past (even $30+ ones). It doesn't clump and lasts all day.

6. Burt's Bees Lipstick

Great ingredients, great colours, great price! I can't even tell you how many times I have bought a lipstick, came home, tried it and said 'this is hideous'. Maybe that's just me and I am the worst at picking colours, but what a waste of money! Lipsticks found in department stores are $30+ and other cheaper brands that I have tried in the past gave me the worst reaction! These lipsticks by Burt's Bees are safe, priced under $10, last all day, and are actually moisturizing! There are 14 gorgeous colours to choose from but I love the neutrals! 'Nile Nude' (pictured here) is GREAT for everyday wear!

7. Honest Beauty Concealer Duo

Last but certainly not least is the Honest Beauty Concealer Duo. I will probably write a full post on my Honest Beauty products because I ABSOLUTELY love them, but for now I will just mention the under eye concealer that I use everyday. This is a great product that blends amazingly and each compact comes with two different colours. It doesn't have that 'cake like' effect and does not leave your skin feeling dry. The only downside to the Honest Beauty products - they don't ship to Canada yet so, I usually ship to friends/family in the USA a few times a year when they are able to bring my order to Canada. If you order directly from the Honest Beauty website, you can bundle your products and save money or you can buy products individually at Ulta Beauty (only in the USA).
