If you have ever tried searching for the perfect area rug for your home, you may have noticed that quality rugs can be hard to come bye! The majority are expensive (i'm talking thousands!) and most affordable options have that cheap synthetic feel that you don't want in your home! It's true -  shopping for large rugs can be a challenge if you're on a budget, but this is where the black and white Ikea STOCKHOLM rug comes in! Oriental Rug Seminar with Ten Thousand Villages

On Friday night I had the opportunity to attend a fair trade oriental rug event at Dix Mille Villages (also known as Ten Thousands Villages). The store, which is centred around fair trade hosted a special event with Bunyaad Rugs - a program that supports over 850 artisans from Pakistan and their handmade oriental rugs. This fair trade alliance allows families to remain in their villages and not relocate to the larger cities to search for jobs. Many of the artisans have the looms needed to make these rugs right in their homes, which gives both men and women the ability to work all year round on one of the three primary types of Pakistani hand made rugs - Bokhara, Persian, and Tribal.
