Create a Perfect Holiday Mantle with Natural Elements
With the holidays just around the corner, i'm sure most people are starting to think about their holiday decor (if they haven't already started decorating!). This can certainly be overwhelming with everything else going on during the holidays......house guests, gifts galore, and the endless cooking/baking that just piles on top of everything else in your everyday lives! I am always tempted to change out my holiday decor each year for a new colour scheme, but always end up going with a traditional red and gold look and incorporate rustic elements. Whatever your style may be, you should always include natural elements (greenery, branches, berries, etc) into your holiday decor. You can always buy faux versions of natural elements, but the real thing will ALWAYS look (and smell) better and you can often find various items in your own yard.
Below are some inspirational mantles decorated with natural materials that don't necessarily scream 'CHRISTMAS'. By simply adding some green elements, you can give your mantle a whole new look for the holiday season without removing your everyday decor items or adding a giant Santa and reindeer! I have nothing against Santa and reindeer decor, but I know that not everyone is a fan of the typical, classic Christmas decor and prefer more of a minimalist approach to decorating for the holidays. If that is you - the images below are perfect! If you prefer the 'more is more' traditional vibe - simply add more elements on top of any natural greenery you use!
If you don't like the price tag of a full 'real' green garland - buy two cheap faux garlands (even really cheap dollar store options work great), weave them together and either cut your own or buy already cut tree trimmings/branches/evergreen pieces. Place the real pieces throughout the faux garland.........no one will know there is faux garland under there.....I swear! This costs significantly less and can be done throughout your home....mantles...banisters...etc!
