2017 LAKE FOREST SHOW HOUSE
Last weekend my Instagram feed was flooded with amazing pictures from what turned out to be the 2017 Lake Forest Show House in Lake Forest Illinois. Over 30 interior and landscape designers worked to design specific rooms and areas of the home as part of the annual Lake Forest Show House & Gardens event.
The 5 bedroom, 5 and a half bath home was designed by architect Howard Van Doren Shaw and built in 1922. The current owners replaced many of the old materials in the home when they purchased it in 2007 to keep the historic details. Mark D. Sikes spoke at the event last weekend (if you aren't familiar with Mark's work, check it out - www.markdsikes.com, so good) and it looked like it was a great time! The home is open for tours until May 21st, and here is a sneak peak! Each room has been designed by a different designer - the names are indicated under each picture!
The kitchen above is amazing. I love the natural wood island paired with white cabinets and the striped bar stools.
White pottery grouped together, can go wrong! I have something similar on our open shelving in our kitchen.
Another view of the kitchen - blue and white jars AND a mural wall in the background!
Love this desk area off the kitchen! I think those are upholstered walls, which is going to be the next big thing! Look at that nail head detail.
Butlers pantry. I love that sink and the white pottery continues here.
Such a fun and colourful dining room. More stripes! I love a round table in a dining room - has that restaurant feel and allows for better dinner conversations compared to long, narrow rectangular tables.
Fantastic sitting room! Look at those high gloss, mossy green walls!
Gorgeous mural wall.
A fun sunroom with a modern table. I love that light fixture.
Another great sitting area with a perfect day bed for lounging!
So many inspiring spaces in this one house!
